	I retired after almost 36 years of continuous service at Gibbs Die Casting Corporation, in Henderson, Kentucky. Many people look forward to retirement after such a long work life – and especially at one company. However, my desire was to continue stoking the fire of enthusiasm for business by using the extensive knowledge I have gained in my long career at Gibbs to help other companies in the areas of Quality Systems or Lean Methodology development. I have gained valuable knowledge in my years at Gibbs, working in varied capacities such as Safety, Human Resources, and other Administrative areas, Quality, and Lean Manufacturing principles. For the last 20-plus years, I have headed the activity of developing and optimizing the Quality systems at Gibbs to meet the challenges of ISO 9000, QS9000, and TS16949. This has resulted in achieving and maintaining these customer-mandated Quality certifications since 1998. Since the early 1990’s, I have served as the in-house “Lean Guru” at Gibbs, working initially with Toyota advisors to foster lean principles of manufacturing, both on the manufacturing floor and in support areas. I have also been able to gain an even wider base of knowledge through involvement in supplier or customer organizations such as the Toyota-associated BAMA (Bluegrass Automotive Manufacturer’s Association) and the Honda Lean Network. It is through these activities that I have had the opportunity to witness lean application at diverse manufacturing companies, always working to both learn TPS/Lean principles and offer ideas for further improvements at these companies. I have also gained vast experience as I successfully applied these principles to improve processes at Gibbs Die Casting. That experience has also included global travel and interactions with multiple cultures, as I successfully provided lean methods training and implementation facilitation to Gibbs plants in South Korea, Brazil, and Hungary. Perhaps there is an opportunity for me to help other companies succeed, through Quality System Development or auditing, Training, Problem-Solving, Lean Methodology enhancement or Cost-reduction / Productivity enhancement areas.
